(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Up to 250 prominent Muslim figures from 57 countries will discuss the latest developments in the Muslim world during the 24th International Conference of Islamic Unity, set to be held in Tehran on February 19-21.
Secretary General of the World Forum for the Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Taskhiri, said, yesterday, February 13, the 24th edition of the International Conference of Islamic Unity, scheduled to be held at the Summit Conference Hall of the Islamic Republic of Iran, will focus on strategically pragmatic ways for promotion of proximity of the Islamic schools of thought.
Speaking at a press conference yesterday, he referred to the current historic movements triggered in different Arab states, noting that participants in the upcoming conference dedicate an considerable amount of time to the issue.
“Setting up 3 commissions, holding an exhibition, and honoring selected candidates winning the 6th Book Award, are among programs to be held on the sidelines of the event,” he remarked, adding that the performance of the World Forum for the Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought over the past 20 years would be put under evaluation during the conference.
Iran’s president as well as Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance are to deliver speeches at opening and closing ceremonies, respectively.
